The Village of Islamorada is made up of 4 habitable Keys (Islands) - Plantation Key, Windley Key, Upper Matecumbe Key and Lower Matecumbe Key. Each Key (island) is approx. 5 miles long and the population is approximately 8,000. With the length of the islands, it offers many bridges for easy access to the Atlantic Ocean and the Florida Bay / Everglades National Park. In my opinion, Islamorada has the best boating in the Keys because of this factor.
The Florida Keys has the largest living coral reef in North America, which stretches approximately 106 miles long. Scuba divers and snorkelers penetrate our waters on a daily basis to enjoy the colorful marine life and clear waters. Islamorada is known as the sport
fishing capital of the world because of the variety of fish that can be caught in one area. The fishing is phenomenal, whether you enjoy offshore fishing or backcountry fishing. There is more to Islamorada than being the sport
fishing capital of the world. The water sport
activities are endless - sailing, paddle boarding, kayaking, wake boarding, skiing, boating, kite boarding, fishing tournaments, to name a few.
