Lower Matecumbe Key is the last island (as you head south) in the Village of Islamorada.  Located between Mile Marker 79-74.  I have owned a home on this island since 1997.  Lower Matecumbe Key is mostly residential homes on the water.  The commercial properties are located on the Overseas Highway.  There are 2 restaurants, 2 gas stations / convenience stores, 2 marinas.  If you have fed the Tarpon at Robbie's Marina - you have been on Lower Matecumbe Key.

This island makes it convenient for deep draft and tall vessels.  There are a few subdivisions that can accommodate a deep draft vessel -  Port Antigua, Tollgate Shores and Safety Harbor.  Those subdivisions are located on the bay side, which will take you minutes to get to Channel 5 bridge which has a 65' clearance.  The Channel 5 bridge is your gateway to the Atlantic Ocean.  The Everglades National Park is in your backyard - if you are interested in backcountry fishing / exploring.
